EMPLOYMENT prospects in Omagh received an early New Year boost yesterday (Wednesday) when JMG Systems Ltd announced it is creating 21 new jobs, with the potential for further expansion.
The Derry Road based company provides engine monitoring systems - from prototype development to full scale systems - for quarrying, recycling, crushing, aircraft ground support, construction and automotive equipment.
Having started in 1976 with a staff of only two, JMG has experienced continuous growth and currently employs 83 people with the additional jobs to be created in the coming months.
Despite experiencing difficulties as a result of the economic downturn in 2008 and 2009, by concentrating on innovation and quality control, JMG’s turnover has doubled in the past two years. As a result of a major UK contract and exports to Europe and America, JMG has been able to create these 21 new jobs with the support of Invest Northern Ireland.
The jobs on offer will be a mixture of engineering, production operatives, sales and administration support, contributing £380,000 a year in salaries to the local economy.
Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster said announcements such as yesterday’s “good news story” are the best part of her job as she was given a tour around the company’s new factory at Gortrush.
